MEDIA, PA – The Runnymeade Farms neighborhood in Edgmont Township, Delaware County, will receive two state grants totaling more than $500,000 from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) for flood mitigation and watershed restoration, said Rep. Chris Quinn (R-Delaware), who supported the grant applications.

“Flooding and poor storm drainage have affected the Runnymeade Farms for years,” said Quinn. “These grants will allow these problems to be fixed, remediating the erosion in the Sawgrass Stream Valley and securing the surrounding watershed for years to come.”

One CFA grant for $308,250 will help fund the construction of a storm drain network, adding approximately 1,000 feet of piping to allow for the effective drainage of stormwater. The second grant for $200,000 will help fund the removal of existing damaged stormwater structures in the Sawgrass Stream Valley, the as well as regrading of the stream bed and restoringe approximately 400 feet of the stream valley.

Township officials expressed gratitude for the grant awards.

“This grant will have a direct, positive impact on the homeowners and residents of the Runnymeade Farms community,” said Ron Gravina, chairman of the Edgmont Township Board of Supervisors. “Rep. Quinn has been an effective advocate for Edgmont, and my fellow supervisors and I are grateful for his support of this important grant.”

The Commonwealth Financing Authority was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. The CFA holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth. Unique among state agencies in structure and scope, the CFA consists of seven Board board members: four legislative appointees and the secretaries of DCED, the Office of the Budget and Department of Banking and Securities.

“I’m pleased the authority recognized the value of these projects to Edgmont and the surrounding community,” said Quinn.
